Sin gasolina en …

Por lo menos en un condado de las Carolinas, alla en Estados Unidos, estan teniendo problemas con el suministro de la gasolina. De esas cosas que se queda uno rascandose la cabeza y pensando: ¿porque les estara faltando? ¿Efecto secundario post “Ike”?

Me hacen llegar via email la siguiente circular escolar:

We are very much aware of the stress all of us are facing as we attempt to secure gas. I want to share information with you about actions we are taking. At this time we are not planning to cancel school during this gas shortage. We recognize the problems this would cause for arranging child care. Rather, we will attempt to help our teachers be here to teach your children.

We strongly suggest that you arrange carpools to transport your children to and from school and for after- school activities. Your student directory has addresses of all students listed. We will not be penalizing any student for an absence from school or other events, including athletics, during this time period.

We will be allowing our teachers to leave during the day to get gas since many of the stations are closed by the time they leave school in the afternoon. We will provide coverage for the classroom if the teacher is absent, but I wanted you to be aware of this situation in case your student mentions that their teacher is not present during part of the day. We are also asking that if you see a gas station selling gas, you call the school switchboard to let us know so that our teachers can find gas without driving endlessly searching for a station with gas.

Our athletic games will continue as scheduled unless our competitors cancel the competition.

We join you in hoping this gas crisis is resolved quickly. The latest word we have from wholesale distributors is that it will be a week or so before the situation eases substantially. We ask for your support and patience during this trying time. “
